The brief for this project required me to design full size A1 laminated posters for the English Department at University of Reading. These are aimed for students to address feedback and assessment issues in English Literature. Many students were finding it difficult to find their feedback from assignments and engage with this therefore, one poster was made to address this and help students to locate this. Another poster was required to help students understand how to upload work onto Blackboard or Turnitin.
This project enabled me to undertake successful information design which is clear and can be efficiently interpreted. Throughout the project the priority was to ensure that the information was as clear as possible, which meant integrating image and copy to create steps which were easy to follow. Whilst ensuring maximum clarity of information on the posters, I had to also ensure I adhered to the University of Reading brand guidelines. This included the Effra typeface and University of Reading logo to be present on the posters. This was a challenge throughout the project as the brand guidelines included one typeface making hierarchy difficult, especially within an information based poster. However, I overcame this through designing with space and ensuring the sections were clearly differentiated.
Ultimately, I learnt and improved many skills during the duration of this job. The job also highlighted the value of clients contributions and guidelines. Working closely to understand the exact needs of the client and producing deliverables which are clear for the audience was fundamental for producing these posters.
